On Thursday, January 9, 2025, the Department of Social Science hosted an inspiring speech contest for the students of Sociology course. The event featured a captivating theme that encouraged participants to explore critical social issues. Professor Dr. Tazul Islam, the esteemed Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, graciously attended as the Chief Guest, highlighting the event's significance. A panel of respected judges evaluated presentations from 13 diverse groups. The competition showcased impressive topics, with winners announced as follows: Red Sparks garnered attention for their compelling discussion on corruption, Ivory Quest raised awareness about youth unemployment, and Pearl Pathfinder brought vital insights into the issue of poverty. Dr. Buddha Dev Biswas, the head of the department, delivered both the welcome and concluding speeches, emphasizing the value of engaging in meaningful dialogue about societal challenges. He extended his heartfelt thanks to the guests, judges, and the talented participants selected from various classes. The event was meticulously organized by Ms. Shaira Matin, the coordinator of the sociology courses, who also served as the anchor. Under the guidance of six dedicated faculty members, students from thirteen classes collaborated to prepare, diving deep into sixty-two topical social issues. This initiative fostered a constructive atmosphere for learning, critical thinking, and active participation in addressing the pressing challenges of our society.
