The Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), AIUB, organized a career session titled “From Classroom to Career: A Roadmap for EEE Students” on 20 April 2026 at the Media Studio, Annex-2. The session was arranged for internship-enrolled EEE students of Spring 2025–2026, along with alumni, with the aim of providing practical insights into industry expectations, career opportunities, and essential professional competencies required for engineering graduates.

The session was facilitated by Md. Rezaul Islam, Deputy Manager at Summit Communications Limited and an alumnus of AIUB. He completed both his BSc and MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from this university. Drawing from his professional experience, he shared valuable insights into real-world engineering practices and career development pathways in the telecommunications and EEE sectors.

The program was jointly organized by the Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA) and the AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES), reflecting a strong initiative toward enhancing student development through industry engagement. The opening speech was delivered by Mr. R. Tareque Moudud FCMA, Director, Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA). He emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in preparing students for industry readiness by bridging the gap between academic learning and professional expectations.

Following the opening remarks, Dr. A B M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, addressed the session and highlighted the importance of aligning academic learning with industry requirements. He encouraged students to actively engage in such career-focused programs and emphasized that consistent skill development, discipline, and practical exposure are essential for becoming successful engineers in a competitive job market.

The session began with discussions on self-introduction and job descriptions, where the speaker explained how professionals present themselves in corporate environments and how engineering roles are structured in real industry settings. This helped students connect theoretical knowledge with practical workplace requirements. A significant portion of the discussion focused on career planning, where students were encouraged to set clear goals early in their academic journey and align their interests with industry demand.

The speaker further highlighted the importance of continuous skill development, emphasizing that academic knowledge alone is not sufficient in today’s competitive job market. Students were encouraged to develop both technical and soft skills and adopt a mindset of lifelong learning. The session also included guidance on job preparation strategies, CV and resume writing techniques, interview preparation, and common mistakes to avoid during application and selection processes.

Additionally, the session addressed networking and professional growth, emphasizing how building strong professional connections can significantly enhance career opportunities. The speaker also shared common mistakes made by students, helping them become more aware of areas requiring improvement in their academic and early professional journey.

Finally, the session concluded with key takeaways and a practical career roadmap, summarizing how students can effectively transition from classroom learning to the professional world through structured planning, skill enhancement, and continuous self-improvement.
