MoU Between AIUB and Huawei Technologies Limited

To promote knowledge sharing and fostering extensive hands-on training on futuristic technologies for their students, the American International University - Bangladesh (AIUB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, 7 November 2022 with localized leading global ICT solutions provider, Huawei Technologies Limited, at AIUB campus. The amin of this MoU is to create an ICT Academy at AIUB to facilitate the country’s ICT ecosystem and create opportunities for the students by developing their industry-oriented knowledge and ICT skills.   

This ICT Academy is designed to equip students with advanced ICT knowledge and necessary skills for the future. Huawei will provide its enriched online learning platform with diversified courses to the students of AIUB. Teachers for AIUB will also get the opportunity to become Huawei-certified trainers at this academy and they will be able to provide training to the students afterwards.

Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor, AIUB said, “Developing a sustainable ICT talent ecosystem is essential for continuing our growth and overall progress. Huawei has contributed greatly to the ICT ecosystem of Bangladesh. This Huawei AIUB ICT Academy partnership, I believe, will help students sharpen their existing skills while attaining new sets of skills and knowledge.”

Karl Yu Ying, Country Director of Public Affairs and Communications Department of Huawei Bangladesh, said, “together with eco-partners, Huawei always would like to make contribution for the country achieve its goals related to digitalization. The most important aspect of this is to develop a sound ICT ecosystem. To that end, Huawei has been working with both the various partners to create an ecosystem that will nurture ICT talents, who will then contribute to the growth of the country. This ICT Academy partnership is also part of our continued commitment to preparing the youth for the future world.”

It is mentionable that Huawei initiated ICT Academy, an Industry- academia cooperation project, back in 2013. At the moment, there are 1,500 such ICT academies run by Huawei in more than 90 countries around the world, including the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines. In total, 927 colleges and universities are involved in this initiative, benefitting thousands of learners from around the globe. There are also some ICT academies in other universities in Bangladesh.

Professor Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director, MBA Program, Professor Farheen Hassan (Ph.d.), Director, BBA Program & Dept. Head, Management and HRM and Professor Dr. Tabin Hasan, Head of Computer Science (Graduate Program) and Department of Management Information Systems from AIUB, graced the event with their presences. From Huawei (Bangladesh) Technologies Limited, Mr. Gengjiazhi (James), Mr. Zhang Cheng (Justin), Mr. Md. Shajahan Ahmed and Mr. Thouhidul Hassan, enriched the event with their valuable attendances.  Dr. Rezbin Nahar from Department of Management and Faculty members from the Department of MIS, Ms. Nazia Farhana, Mr. Md. Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Mr. Jubayer Suhan, were also present at the ceremony.
