Intra AIUB Programming Contest – 2024

AIUB Competitive Programmers' Community, in collaboration with the AIUB Computer Club, the Office of Student Affairs, and the Department of Computer Science, organized the Intra AIUB Programming Contest - 2024 Senior, Junior and Girls segment on March 1st and 2nd 2024. Encouraging participants to solve problems with remarkable intelligence and skill was the primary objective of this competition. The programming competition took place in the Computer Labs of the D Building, at the AIUB campus.

 

The contest was hosted by Mr. Rawaha Anik (Associate Software Engineer at Cefalo), Mr. Israfil Digonto (Software Engineer at Enosis Solutions), MR. Abdullah Al Mujahid (ICPC Coach at AIUB and Software Engineer at TigerIT Bangladesh Ltd.), Mr. Md. Al-Amin (Lecture Computer Science and Engineering at AIUB), Mr. Md. Mobarak Hossain (Software Engineer at AppsCode Inc.) and Mr. Atanu Saha (Associate Software Engineering at Cefalo) from AIUB Competitive Programmers' community. Participants were required to use the Toph.co website to compete in the competition. The participants received a personalized notepad, pen, and snacks from the organizers. A booth was set up by the organizers to help the participants reach their assigned labs and computers. Participants in the Intra AIUB Programming Contest also received balloons for solving each problem following the ICPC style. Contestants who submitted their code first were awarded stars in the rank list. Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik (Special Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs and Associate Professor of Computer Science at AIUB) visited the venue of the programming contest. Mr. Niloy Roy (President of AIUB Computer Club), Mr. Tamim Hasan Apurbo (General Secretary of AIUB Computer Club) and executives from AIUB Computer Club were also present during each competition.

 

On 1st March 2024, the Intra AIUB Girls' Programming Contest took place. Participants started to come around 9:00 a.m. Around 9.15 a.m. almost 150+ participants were present at the venue. The hosts welcomed all participants, encouraged them, and reminded them of the competition regulations. As the participants started to solve the questions and submit their programs, the excitement of the contest started to build up too. After 1 hour left in the contest, participants ranked No. 1 and No. 2 already solved three out of seven problems and were ranked in the top live rank list. The girls’ programming contest successfully ended at 12:00 p.m.

 

On 2nd March 2024, the Intra AIUB Programming Contest - 2024 Senior & Junior segment was held. The contest's senior segment took place first, lasting three hours in the morning, while the junior segment took place at noon and lasted for two hours. In the senior segment, there were nearly 500+ participants. Many participants solved the first problem in the senior segment almost immediately after it began, with great enthusiasm. Everyone was giving it their all. With approximately sixty minutes remaining in the competition, competitors ranked in the top three positions had already figured out six out of the nine problems. The younger participants began to arrive and occupy their designated spots. With all the youthful competitors' excitement, the competition started. After an hour, the top live rank was occupied by participant Md. Siyam Talukder, who had solved four of the seven problems. Every competitor was giving it their all to keep their rank high as the finish line drew near. After a while, the junior segment competition came to a thrilling conclusion.

 

On March 6th, 2024, the Intra AIUB Programming Contest - 2024 Prize Giving Ceremony was held. All the Participants were cordially invited to the ceremony to celebrate the efforts, achievements, and dedication together. The ceremony took place in the D building's Multipurpose Hall. Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik (Associate Professor of Computer Science at AIUB and Special Assistant for the Office of Student Affairs), Mr. Niloy Roy (President of AIUB Computer Club) along with other executives and general members of ACC were also present at the event. Mr. Israfil Digonto (Software Engineer at Enosis Solutions) and other members of the AIUB Competitive Programmers' community were present at the prize-giving ceremony. The ceremony was opened by host Mr. Ashikur Rahman Sakib (General Member of ACC), who welcomed everyone. The prize giving ceremony was to present the top five winners from each of the three segments. The host asked the distinguished guest, Mr. Mashiour Rahman (Senior Associate Professor and Dean of Computer Science) to come up on the stage and say a few words on behalf of all the attendees. He talked about the history of Computer Science in AIUB and how the competitive programming contest goes back in history. Mr. Rahman discussed the advantages of entering the competition and its significance. He also discussed how the competition will help the competitors develop their problem-solving abilities and learn how to solve problems with extraordinary intelligence. Following the speech, Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik and Mr. Mashiour Rahman were asked to take the stage to present the prizes. Prize money was awarded to the winner, runner-up, and second runner-up; accessories were given to the fourth and fifth places. Following the prize distribution, Mr. Bhowmik and Mr. Rahman congratulated each winner. A brief cultural performance by ACC members enhanced the event even more and gave the event a lively feel. A group photo session marked the end of the event.
