Important Updates and Decisions Following the Recent Meetings (Revised)

The AIUB Board of Trustees and AIUB Management is pleased to announce that a successful meeting with the students was held in the AIUB Auditorium on Tuesday, 20 August 2024 and the logical demands of the students were duly addressed as follows. The AIUB Management requests the students to return to their regular classes and follow the semester plan of Summer 2023-24 (will be published soon). Online classes will continue till Saturday, 24 August 2024. On-campus regular classes will resume from Sunday, 25 August 2024. More details about the revised Academic calendar and final assessment plan of Summer 2023-24 will be published soon.
The highlights of the revised decisions made on 20 August 2024 are:
The faculty member and the OSA official, against whom the students voiced their complaints, have resigned and the authority have accepted their resignations.
A 30% reduction in tuition fees will be applied to all registered students for the Summer 2023-24 semester.
A complete list of injured students during quota reform protest will be published after collecting data from all possible sources.
AIUB remains a non-political campus, and no political activities are permitted within the campus. This policy will continue to be strictly enforced.
Students are encouraged to consult with their respective course teachers to discuss and decide on their preferred final term assessment. A flexible and favorable final assessment plan for Summer 2023-24 will be published soon, based on these discussions.
New lifts will be introduced in the upcoming building which will have connection with Building D to reduce the burden on existing lifts. Moreover, a 10–15-minute gap will be introduced between class timing to allow students to comfortably move from one building to another.
No fees will be deducted during the adding/ dropping period (full refund for the dropped course).
No fine for late Registration, late Payment and late permit printing.
No credit fees for internship.
Free Wi-Fi access will be introduced across the campus within this semester.
The canteen will introduce a wide variety of menu options at reasonable prices.
A revised, flexible tuition fee payment schedule will be implemented, with an extended payment deadline. More details will follow soon.
The behavior of officials of different offices will be strictly monitored. An online, transparent complaint and review system will be implemented as soon as possible to address student complaints within 7 working days.
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) will be reformed and hence, initiatives will be taken to make sure club operations are more efficient, non-discriminated and hassle free.
Access to the swimming pool will be introduced shortly.
The operating hours of the gymnasium and sports facilities will be extended until 8 pm.
Faculty deans/ directors will be more careful while scrutinizing the faculty TPE and take necessary actions accordingly. Expertise and area of specialization of the teachers will be given priority while assigning courses.
More research grants and opportunities will be made available for student research along with research facilities.
Freshman enrollment will be more controlled and limited with stricter requirements.
Excessive makeup classes will be avoided.
Lab facilities will be enhanced.
The library will remain open until 9 pm.
Minimum credit load per semester will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
For awards and scholarships criteria, valid reasons for course dropping and course withdrawal will be considered.
A revised policy for guardian entry to the campus will be introduced, along with comfortable seating arrangements.
“AIUB Alumni Society” membership card will be accepted for alumni entry/ exit to the campus and facilities.
One-time entry passes will be provided without any harassment.
Strict monitoring of washroom facilities and cleanliness has already been ordered.
The university authorities will give more emphasis to pursuing the relevant government authorities to ensure wider access roads and reduce water clogging.
The Academic Council will positively assess the possibility of reducing Summer lab hours.
The authority will assess the possibility of reducing the annual student activity fee and annual development fees (as applicable).
The authority will assess the feasibility and arrange student transportation facilities at the earliest possible.
With respect, the Vice Chancellor will make every effort to establish a trusted relationship with students and teachers. After one year, the status of this relationship will be assessed, and the Board of Trustees will make the necessary recommendations accordingly.
