Department of JMC
Venue:
Panchoboti, Dhaka

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized an enriching Digital Photography Workshop under the guidance of course teacher Mr. Niaz Majumdar, Senior Assistant Professor of JMC, providing students with an invaluable opportunity to explore photography beyond the classroom. The workshop was held at a picturesque place called Panchoboti, on Thursday, 9th July 2026, where students experienced the harmony of nature, culture and visual storytelling.

Upon arriving at Panchoboti, students immersed themselves in the serene rural landscape, exploring traditional mud houses, lush greenery, diverse species of trees and the soothing sounds of birds. A refreshing spell of rain added an unexpected charm to the experience, allowing participants to witness nature in one of its most authentic and photogenic forms.

Throughout the workshop, Mr. Niaz Majumdar shared practical techniques and professional insights into digital photography, emphasizing composition, framing, lighting, perspective, storytelling and the importance of observing details before capturing an image. Students actively applied these concepts by photographing the surroundings, experimenting with different angles, natural light, texture, and environmental elements to create compelling visual narratives.

The workshop not only strengthened participants' technical photography skills but also encouraged them to appreciate the beauty of Bangladesh's rural heritage and the stories hidden within everyday life. It served as a reminder that impactful photography is not merely about taking pictures but about preserving emotions, moments and perspectives through the lens.

Overall, the Digital Photography Workshop at Panchaboti was an inspiring and memorable learning experience that successfully combined academic knowledge with hands-on practice. It fostered creativity, observation and visual communication, leaving students with valuable skills, meaningful memories and a deeper appreciation for the art of photography.

JMC Department is extremely grateful to Mr. O.K. Chowdhury (owner of the garden) for allowing JMC students to be there and kind hospitality.
