Phytochemistry and Pharmacology
This research group studies the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants and their bioactive constituents using both in vitro and in vivo experimental models. Bridging traditional herbal medicine with modern pharmacological science, the group focuses on plants of ethnomedicinal significance in Bangladesh and the broader South Asian region. Their research encompasses the extraction, isolation, and characterization of active compounds, alongside evaluations of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, analgesic, and anticancer activities. In addition to plant-based studies, the group utilizes animal models to investigate the safety, efficacy, and mechanisms of action of natural products. Through systematic phytopharmacological research, the group aims to scientifically validate traditional knowledge and contribute to the discovery of novel therapeutic agents derived from natural sources.INTEREST(S)
