This academic research domain is focused on the study of 'Urbanism and Human Settlement.' This domain will serve as a platform for a wide range of urban design and research activities that are not only related to Informal Urbanism and Rural Development but also aim to explore the interconnected aspects of Housing, Human Settlement, and Development. The research will focus on several distinct topics, including Regenerative Urbanism and Sustainability, Urban Microclimate and Comfort, Urban Mobility, and Heritage Conservation, Landscape Urbanism and Resilience. VISION
The Urbanism and Human Settlement Research Domain envisions establishing sustainable, inclusive, and comfortable settings for individuals. The vision is to seek to transcend disciplinary boundaries and foster collaboration between researchers, practitioners, and communities to shape environments that prioritize the well-being, equity, and aspirations of their inhabitants. Additionally, the researchers engage in global discussions and cooperation to exchange effective methods, research findings, and creative solutions to urban challenges.
MISSION
The mission of the "Urbanism and Human Settlement" Research Domain is to improve understanding, advancement, and sustainable management of urban development and human settlements through multidisciplinary research. The research interests are concentrated in six areas: Urban mobility; Regenerative Urbanism and Future sustainability (Urban et al.); Housing, Informal Urbanism and Rural Development; Urban Microclimate and Comfort; Urban Analytics; Urban Heritage Conservation and Cultural Landscape. The mission is to analyze the interaction between various factors that influence urban development and the distribution of human settlements, including social, economic, environmental, technological, and cultural aspects, to foster the creation of inclusive, resilient, and harmonious communities.
