FBA organized Seminar on “Public sector accounting- how far we are from accrual based?”

The Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration organized a seminar on the public sector accounting- how far we are from accrual based? in the media studio [Annex 2] from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The seminar was entirely organized for the students of the Cost Accounting and Principles and practice of taxation course. 

The key speaker was Md Ruhul Quddus, ACMA, ACCA, CPFA, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Finance. He shared the Existing Public Sector Accounting/ Reporting practice In Bangladesh. Then he discussed some key contexts in which transition to accrual may occur, and assessment of our status (SWOT analysis). The content of the seminar covers the Sustainable development goal (SDG) especially SDG-4 (Quality education) and SDG -9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). It was an interactive session and students actively participated in this session through an online platform. Other faculty members of accounting were also present physically.

The seminar was arranged by Dr Md Sazzadur Rahman Khan FCMA, Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting. Dr. Kamrul Hasan, Associate Professor and Head of Accounting gave the welcome speech. At the end of the session, Dr Mohammad Faridul Alam, Director [MBA and EMBA Program] gave a vote of thanks and provided a certificate as well as a token gift to the key speaker.
