Comprehending the legal landscape is essential for law students as it equips them with the knowledge needed to understand tax regulations and navigate the complexities of tax law effectively. Recognizing this imperative, the Department of Law, American International University-Bangladesh organized a timely webinar titled 'Taxation Tomorrow: Trends, Tech, and Legal Adaptations' on April 23, 2024. The event aimed to shed light on emerging trends in taxation, technological advancements impacting tax regimes, and the requisite legal adaptations in response to these changes. The program, coordinated by Mr. Ahasan Habib, Lecturer in Law and Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs (OSA), commenced at 6:30 pm and extended until 8:00 pm.
Dr. Anindhya Tiwari, an esteemed Assistant Professor at Hidayatullah National Law University, India, and an authority in the field of International Taxation, graced the occasion as the keynote speaker. With a Ph.D. from the National Law University Jodhpur, Dr. Tiwari's research primarily centers on International Taxation, supplemented by authoring two books on International Tax Law and Banking Law, alongside numerous publications in esteemed journals. He has presented papers and chaired sessions at numerous national and international conferences including Asian Law Institute (ASLI) Conference at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Indonesia, the Asian Law Schools Association (ALSA) Conference at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University School of Law, Taiwan, and the Intellectual Property Institute of Research and Advocacy (IPIRA) Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam. Additionally, since 2018, Dr. Tiwari has also served as a professional trainer for the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
Dr. Tiwari commenced his discourse by delineating key definitions and trends shaping the future of taxation, emphasizing the pivotal role of technology in revolutionizing tax administration and compliance. Drawing from his rich academic and professional background, he elucidated on the legal ramifications of technological innovations in taxation, urging participants to stay abreast of these developments for informed decision-making. Furthermore, Dr. Tiwari delved into the nuances of legal adaptations necessitated by evolving tax landscapes, elucidating on strategies to ensure compliance while optimizing tax efficiency.
The webinar commenced with a warm welcome remark delivered by Prof. Dr. Taslima Monsoor, Adviser of the Department of Law. Her words of encouragement and support resonated with the audience, instilling a sense of enthusiasm and anticipation for the forthcoming discourse. After Dr. Tiwari's insightful presentation, Dr. Syeda Afroza Zerin, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, delivered a vote of thanks and extended heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speaker for his invaluable contribution.
