Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) conducts “Initial Preparation Seminar” at AIUB

The American International University - Bangladesh (AIUB) has always been the flag bearer of Quality Assurance in Higher Education in Bangladesh. To keep up with the legacy, five programs of the four faculties of AIUB has submitted expression of interest to get accredited by the national accreditation body, Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC). The programs are Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), Bachelor of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Engineering. Due to this accreditation process, dignitaries from BAC visited AIUB on 21st January 2024 at 10AM for conducting the “Initial Preparation Seminar”, which was held at the Multipurpose Hall of AIUB permanent campus. Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman, Professor Dr. S. M. Kabir, Member, Professor Dr. Gulshan Ara Latifa, Member, Professor Nasir Uddin Ahammed, Director (Accreditation) were among the visitors for the event from Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC). Dr. Rita Parveen, Deputy Director (Accreditation), Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and Professor Farheen Hassan Ph.D., Director, AIUB-IQAC, conducted the seminar. Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member, AIUB Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Treasurer, Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar and Dr. ABM Rahmatullah, Additional Director, AIUB-IQAC, from AIUB graced the event with their presences.

The seminar was the ice-breaking session for the accreditation process. Honorable BAC chairman and members exchanged views and details on the accreditation procedure with Quality Assurance Committee (QAC), Faculty Quality Assurance Committee (FQAC), Program Self-assessment Committee (PSAC) Administrative staff of AIUB. The participants of the seminar discussed the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) and 10 criteria of the BAC accreditation procedure. Professor Dr. S. M. Kabir talked about the documentation process for accreditation and Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed provided guidance on how to fulfill the steps for accreditation. Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna and Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman thanked BAC for visiting and guiding us on the national accreditation process and assured that the rest of the programs will be applying for BAC accreditation very soon. Deans, Directors, Departments Heads, IQAC team and administrative personnel attended the event.
