“Alumni Career Talks" by the Department of Economics

A career talk session titled "ALUMNI CAREER TALKS" was organized on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, by the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the Media Studio of American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB). Mrs. Durdana Tabasuum Nowrin, a dedicated microfinance research and evaluation manager who is working in ASA, a leading microfinance institution in Bangladesh and Mr. Rafat Ul- Haque, Strategic Insights Specialist at Japan Tobacco International-Bangladesh were featured in the session.   

 

This talk show's primary objective was to inspire and guide the current students from the Economics department and students from the Business faculty who are concentrating in Economics, towards a promising and fulfilling career path. 

 

The alumni speakers recounted their individual experiences, emphasizing the various obstacles they confronted. In addition to demonstrating the practical applications of their academic knowledge, they stressed the significance of networking, continuous learning, CV preparation, soft skills, general knowledge, teamwork, extracurricular activities, good communication skills, the value of professional degrees, and what is expected of recent graduates. Their experiences, insights, and accomplishments were invaluable sources of inspiration and direction for the following generation of graduates.  

 

The program was graced by Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, FASS. The Head of the department and all other esteemed faculty members of the Economics department and other department were present at the event.
