American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has taken a significant stride towards combating climate change by committing to the Race to Zero commitment. This initiative showcases AIUB's dedication to environmental sustainability and its proactive approach in addressing global challenges.
Race to Zero is a global campaign rallying non-state actors – including companies, cities, regions, financial, educational, and healthcare institutions – to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer, net zero world. Since June 2020, over 13,000 members have joined the campaign and are committed to the same overarching goal: reducing emissions across all scopes swiftly and fairly in line with the Paris Agreement, with transparent action plans and robust near-term targets.
Members of Race to Zero automatically join countries in the Climate Ambition Alliance, and their participation is registered on the Global Climate Action portal.
AIUB's initiative to commit to the Race to Zero underscores its commitment to environmental stewardship. The university recognizes its role in mitigating climate change and acknowledges the importance of taking decisive action to reduce carbon emissions. By making this pledge, AIUB demonstrates its leadership in promoting sustainability within the academic community and beyond.
