Dr. Faria Sultana, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at the American International University-Bangladesh, participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the flagship professional exchange initiative of the U.S. Department of State.

She joined the Multi-Regional Project titled “Advancing Economic Prosperity: Global Economic Cooperation”, which brought together emerging and established professionals from 16 countries, including Brazil, Burundi, Croatia, Cyprus, Djibouti, India, Italy, Malaysia, Montenegro, Nepal, North Macedonia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The program took place from September 6 to September 27, 2025, beginning in Washington, D.C., and included visits to Baltimore, Cleveland (Ohio), St. Louis (Missouri), and Portland (Oregon). It provided participants with an in-depth exploration of strategies that stimulate economic growth and promote sustainable development. The project examined how private sector initiatives, alongside local, state, and federal government strategies, contributed to economic expansion in the United States.

During the program, participants engaged with a wide range of stakeholders, including representatives from start-ups and established businesses, banks, chambers of commerce, community organizations, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, think tanks, and universities. These meetings focused on topics such as trade, investment, incentives, taxation, port management, and fiscal policy. Participants gained insights into ongoing efforts to revitalize the U.S. economy and strengthen the stability and resilience of the international economic system.

Dr. Sultana’s selection to the IVLP recognized her professional accomplishments and her commitment to advancing economic and social development. Through this program, she shared knowledge, built international networks, and contributed to fostering global collaboration in economic policy and practice.
