AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) organized a workshop titled " Practice of Diversity and Tolerance in Workplace of Engineering Students” on May 31, 2022 (Tuesday). The program began at 3:30 PM with the participation of about 40 participants at AIUB Media Studio. The purpose of this workshop was to provide an excellent chance for everyone to learn and practice diversity and tolerance as well as to demonstrate these qualities in their workplaces.

Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Professor, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Advisor, ACES) warmly welcomed the speakers Mr. Mehedi Azad Shawon (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) and Mr. Imran Newaz Khurshid (Project Manager, Center for Enterprise & Society (CES), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh) to start their presentation.

Mr. Mehedi Azad Shawon (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) began his speech by acknowledging the importance of practice in workplace of engineering students. He provided a brief introduction of the impact of diversity in our society. Furthermore, he emphasized that AIUB promotes diversity not in terms of some paperwork or in terms of some policy but already implemented different measures to practice diversity on campus. Later, Mr. Imran Newaz Khurshid (Project Manager, Center for Enterprise & Society (CES), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh) commenced his speech by thanking AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) for organizing this workshop. He instructed the participants to have a discussion session among themselves. After the discussion session he took several opinions from the participants. He then continued to explain some real-life examples of diversity and tolerance that people face regularly on their workplace. He demonstrated the session through a ‘Systems Approach Iceberg’ model where he explained how the mental and cultural habit influences the behavior in our society. At the end of his speech, another discussion session was held where the speakers took opinions from the participants and answered the queries.

Following that, Mr. Mehedi Azad Shawon (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) thanked honorable speaker and presented a token of appreciation to the speaker.
