The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) Research Cell at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully organized a highly insightful workshop titled "Mastering the Art of Case Teaching." The event, held on Wednesday, July 09, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Classroom 3202, Annex 3, AIUB, brought together full-time faculties of FBA for an enriching session focused on enhancing pedagogical approaches through case-based learning. The workshop was expertly led by Romel Mostafa, a distinguished Professor and Director of Ivey’s Lawrence National Centre for Policy of Management. His extensive experience and profound understanding of case methodology provided attendees with invaluable perspectives on integrating real-world scenarios into their teaching practices. The initiative underscored AIUB's commitment to continuous faculty development and the adoption of innovative teaching strategies that prepare students for complex professional challenges. This significant gathering was a testament to the university's dedication to fostering an environment of academic excellence and practical relevance within its business programs.

During the comprehensive three-hour session, Professor Mostafa delved into a range of critical topics designed to equip participants with the skills necessary for effective case teaching. He began by addressing the fundamental question of "Why Use Cases in Class?", highlighting the pedagogical advantages and the institutional reasons that advocate for the widespread adoption of case studies. A particularly relevant segment focused on "Cases Featuring Bangladeshi Contexts," providing faculty with practical examples and encouraging the development of localized teaching materials that resonate with the national business environment. Professor Mostafa also offered practical guidance on "How To Find a 'Good' and 'Right' Teaching Case," emphasizing the nuances involved in selecting materials that align with learning objectives. Furthermore, he elucidated the "Three Dimensions of Difficulty in a Case," categorizing them into analytical, conceptual, and presentation challenges, thereby enabling educators to gauge and manage the complexity of the cases they introduce. The workshop also covered the progression from "Case Teaching then Case Writing," encouraging faculty to consider developing their own cases, and concluded with essential strategies for "Effective Classroom Management" during case discussions, ensuring dynamic and productive learning experiences.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and insightful closing remarks delivered by Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Professor and Director of the Graduate Program (MBA & EMBA) at AIUB. Dr. Alam commended the FBA Research Cell for organizing such a timely and impactful event, reiterating the importance of case teaching in modern business education. The seamless execution of the workshop was made possible by the dedicated coordination efforts of Mohammad Baijed and Md Nur Al Ahad, esteemed lecturers from the Department of MIS, FBA, AIUB, who ensured all logistical aspects were handled efficiently. This event significantly contributed to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, by enhancing the teaching capabilities of faculty members, thereby improving the learning experience for students. By promoting a more practical and engaging educational methodology, the workshop directly supported the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for future leaders.
