Workshop for Internship Students of the Faculty of Business Administration

Faculty of Business Administration and Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA) at AIUB recently organized a highly beneficial workshop on internship research report preparation on 15 June 2023 via MS Teams, specifically designed for BBA and MBA interns. The workshop consisted of two separate sessions, with each session focusing on key elements of producing comprehensive and well-structured internship reports. The sessions were conducted by respected faculty members, Dr. Md. Aftab Anwar, Mr. Mehzab H. Nahid and Mr. R. Tareque Moudud FCMA, the Director of the Office of Placement & Alumni at AIUB who shared their extensive knowledge and expertise with the enthusiastic participants.

In the initial session, Mr. Mehzab H. Nahid, an Assistant Professor and the Head of the Department of Management Information Systems and Business Analytics, presented a comprehensive lecture that examined various essential elements of composing an internship report. The individual commenced by placing emphasis on the underlying justification for research-based reports and their importance within academic and professional environments. The participants acquired knowledge regarding the identification of research gaps and the significance of addressing these gaps within their reports.

In addition, Mr. Nahid provided a comprehensive explanation of the process involved in formulating research questions and objectives. This facilitated the participants' ability to create reports that were targeted and driven by a clear purpose. The importance of conducting a comprehensive literature review was emphasized, as it equips students with the ability to identify pertinent theories and concepts that enhance the quality of their research endeavors.

During the second session, Dr. Md. Aftab Anwar, an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Management and HRM, provided guidance to the participants regarding the essential components of research design and analysis. The focal point of the discussion encompassed the examination of research variables, frameworks, and the formulation of hypotheses, thereby equipping students with the essential means to establish a sturdy research framework. Furthermore, the session provided an overview of data analysis techniques and the tools utilized to facilitate efficient data analysis. The students were provided with an introduction to a range of statistical software and analytical tools that facilitate the accurate interpretation and presentation of research findings.

The session also explored the essential components of citation and referencing, placing specific emphasis on the utilization of the Mendeley reference management tool. By means of practical demonstrations, students were instructed on the importance of upholding academic integrity through the utilization of appropriate citation and referencing methods.

The session also provided an overview of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, discussing different tools and techniques including desk research, case study interviews, observations, on-site analysis, and document analyses. By means of engaging dialogues and concrete illustrations, attendees acquired a more profound comprehension of these research methodologies and the corresponding tools employed.

The workshop concluded with valuable insights shared by Mr. R. Tareque Moudud FCMA, the Director of the Office of Placement & Alumni at AIUB. Mr. Moudud extended his gratitude to the instructors, Mr. Mehzab H. Nahid and Dr. Md. Aftab Anwar, for their expertise and engaging delivery. He emphasized the importance of internship report writing skills for the future careers of BBA and MBA students, inspiring them to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their professional endeavours.
