The UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) in Paris has initiated a research project on internal quality assurance (IQA) of higher education.  The major objective is to document innovative and effective IQA systems, to study their effects and to identify the factors that condition their effectiveness. Eight universities from Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Chile, China, Germany, Kenya and South Africa have been selected for the detailed project out of 50 applicants.  The American International University-Bangladesh was among the selected. To launch the project, a research methodology workshop on the premises of IIEP, Paris was held last Nov. 23-24, 2014.  The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna and Ms. Farheen Hassan participated in the workshop.  Its aim is to hold discussions with the case study authors on the major research concerns and objective, with a view to developing a common understanding of the study.  Agreed were the methodology to carry out the studies and the calendar of operations.
