Study Tour of Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Renaissance Dhaka

As part of our ongoing commitment to bridging academia with industry, students from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM), Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), American International University-Bangladesh, visited Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel on May 15, 2025, for an insightful and enriching experience.

During the visit, students participated in a series of knowledge-sharing sessions focused on career prospects in the hospitality industry. These sessions were conducted by key departmental leaders, including the Director, Food & Beverage, Mr. Kazi Moazzem Hossain; the Housekeeping Manager, Mr. Nasir Uddin and concluded with impactful closing remarks from the Director of HR, Mr. Roni Kumar Khan. The event was hosted by Mr. Mahbub Alahi, HR Assistant and assisted by Mr. Majharul Islam, Sales Coordinator. The visit was initiated by Ms. Sharmin Sultana, Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, AIUB under close supervision of Prof. Dr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury, Chartered Marketer (UK), Head, Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, FBA. 

A key highlight of the discussions was the exploration of internship and employment opportunities for AIUB graduates at Renaissance. The HR Director also candidly shared that there had been a gap in engagement between Renaissance and AIUB in the past, expressing optimism that this visit would serve as a meaningful step toward building a long-term connection.

The students found the sessions both enlightening and inspiring, gaining valuable insights into real-world hospitality operations and career pathways. The visit concluded with an exclusive property tour, where students were captivated by the hotel’s stunning design and exceptional hospitality.

The objective of this study visit was in line with the key sustainable development goal (SDG) of the United Nations, “Quality Education.” The focus of the Department of Marketing, THM, & IB on organizing this type of study tour reflects AIUB's commitment to excellence in education and its dedication to nurturing future professionals in the tourism and hospitality domain.
