The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a session titled “How to be AI Augmented in the Real World” on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The event brought together approximately 80 students from the Faculty of Business Administration to explore the efficiency enhancement catalyzed by the utilization of AI in our daily learning, work, and decision-making.
The seminar was led by Ishmam Chowdhury, Chief Operating Officer at Shikho, one of the country’s leading EdTech companies, where he oversees strategic operations, partnerships, and organizational growth. Previously, he held key strategic and analytical roles at Grameenphone, contributing to corporate strategy and data-driven initiatives. He also serves as a Guest Faculty of Data Analytics at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, teaching Advanced Visualization and Data Storytelling. Drawing on his industry and academic experience, Mr. Ishmam guided students to become truly AI-augmented in real-world contexts.
Mr. Ishmam explained how he uses AI daily across strategy, hiring, product, and marketing to translate "messy real-world problems into clear execution". The discussion included practical frameworks, such as mastering skills like clearer writing with AI, faster analysis, and sharper communication. Effective prompting was emphasized, focusing on the principle that context is king and that specific requests scale, while vague requests fail to do so. The recommended four-part prompt structure includes defining the AI's role, providing context, specifying the tone, and defining the format. Real-world examples were shared, including the use of AI to handle dense accelerator documentation, automate manual spreadsheet tasks, and systematically critique lengthy policy documents. Crucially, the session further emphasized that AI does not substitute human roles but automates repetitive tasks, thereby allowing individuals to allocate more time to strategic activities. The ultimate takeaway was that while AI speeds things up, judgment, direction, and accountability must still originate from the user.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Rezbin Nahar, Director of the Undergraduate Program. Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head of the Department of MIS, and Mohammad Baijed, Assistant Professor, Department of MIS, were also present at the event. Their valuable support contributed significantly to the successful execution of the program, which was organized by Fatema Tuz Zahra, Lecturer, Department of MIS.
The Faculty of Business Administration extends its sincere appreciation to the students, whose enthusiasm and curiosity continue to inspire such initiatives.
