A successful seminar was organized by the Office of Research, where two faculty members Shahrina Afrin Siddique and Akibur Rahman Khan from the Department of English, FASS presented their findings from recent presentations delivered at the NELTA Conference. These research endeavors were partially supported in a form of travel grants provided by AIUB.
Shahrina Afrin Siddique's paper titled "Learning Style Preferences of the Bangladeshi Gen-Z EFL Learners" explored the learning style preferences of Bangladeshi tertiary-level EFL learners born between 1997–2012 using an explanatory mixed methods approach. The findings highlight a strong preference for digital, interactive, and learner-centered environments, offering valuable context-specific insights into Gen-Z learning preferences.
On the other hand, Akibur Rahman Khan's paper shifts his focus to early career English teachers. In his paper titled "Exploring TPACK Literacy among Early Career English Teachers in Bangladesh" obtaining a mixed-methods research he investigates TPACK literacy among early-career English teachers, focusing on their readiness to integrate technology into teaching. The findings reveal varying levels of TPACK skills and identify gaps in technology use. The study recommends enhanced teacher training through digital literacy initiatives, hands-on experience, and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
The interactive seminar was enthusiastically attended by the teachers of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Asif Kamal, RPSC Member, Office of Research. The head of the Department of English, M Hamidul Haque also attended this seminar.
