Seminar on Importance of Extra Curricular Activities

The AIUB Society for Human Resource Management arranged a seminar entitled “The Impact of Extra Curricular Activites for Iincreasing Productivity and Commitment of Employees “ on  21st November 2013. The seminar was organised as part of AIUB Drama Club’s 10th Year celebration. The guest speaker was Mr. Syed Ershad Ahmed,  Managing Director of Expeditors (Bangladesh) Ltd. He is also the President of Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI)  and also the Director of the Board of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC- Bangladesh). The programme started with a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Charles. C. Villanueva, Dean, FBA. The seminar was very practical as it emphasized on the importance of extra-curricular activities, which is an integral part of every student’s life.  Mr. Ahmed made the session very lively and interactive, motivating our students to participate in the discussion. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks  delivered by Ms. Farheen Hassan, Senior Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Management. The seminar was very informative and helpful for the students as it emphasized on the importance of extra curricular activities and it also taught students, how they can utilize their spare times by getting involved in extra curricular activities which will have a very positive impact on their lives. These activities maybe guided or assigned by the faculty in relation to the course or topic being taught like conducting a drama, competitions, rally, exhibits or student initiated like painting, viewing TV, listening to radio, group work, Facebook, cooking, sports and many more. These activities enhance students socialization, educational  and psychological balance and learning skills.
