On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, a seminar titled “Building a Career for Engineering Students in Data Science: From Beginner to Advanced” was organized by the Department of Computer Engineering (CoE), American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), with the support of the Engineering Students’ Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) – AIUB Unit Face, at the Multipurpose Hall, D Building.
The seminar was designed to provide structured and comprehensive career guides for engineering students aspiring to pursue professional opportunities in the field of Data Science, with particular emphasis on essential skills, learning pathways, and prevailing industry expectations.
The program commenced with opening remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, Advisor, ESAB AIUB Unit Face), who highlighted the growing relevance of data-driven technologies and encouraged students to align their academic preparation with emerging industry demands.
The keynote session was delivered by Ms. Farzana Rahman (Lead AI Engineer at Smart Air Bangladesh), who explained the basics of Data Science, the differences between Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI, and the key skills needed for a successful career in the field.
The seminar was attended by esteemed faculty members, including honorable mentor of ESAB AIUB Unit Face, Mr. Md. Shahariar Parvez (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs (OSA)), Mr. Mahamudul Hassan(Assistant Professor, Department of Industrial & Production Engineering, AIUB) and Mr. Md. Alomgir Kabir(Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, AIUB), whose presence greatly enriched the academic value of the event.
An interactive Question & Answer session followed, where participants actively engaged with the speaker. The program concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Siddique Hossain and the presentation of a commemorative crest to the speaker in appreciation of her valuable contribution.
The seminar concluded with an official group photograph featuring the speaker, faculty members, and participants, marking the successful completion of the event and celebrating the collaborative efforts of all involved.
