‘PRACTICING INTERNATIONAL TRADE’: A SIMULATION ORGANIZED FOR STUDENTS OF GLOBAL TRADE

The Department of Marketing in the Faculty of Business Administration organized an event entitled, “Practicing International Trade” for the students of the core course of ‘Global Trade’. The event was held on the 13th of March 2020, on the university premises, to provide an opportunity for the students to acquire knowledge and skills for promoting and selling local products in hypothetical international marketplaces. 14 teams from different sections of the Global Trade course proactively participated in the program. Each team brought various unique items from different districts to create a competitive environment, putting into practice, the theoretical concepts they learnt in class.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB. Ms. Farheen Hassan, an Associate Professor & Director of the Undergraduate Program in the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and Dr. Khondaker Sazzadul Karim, an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Marketing in the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) were also present during the inauguration. They visited all the stalls and shared their valuable feedback on the ideas and presentation of each of the teams. Respected faculty members and administrative officials, as well as numerous students participated in the event, encouraging the teams in their endeavors.

Dr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury, a Senior Associate Professor, Course Coordinator and Convener, along with Dr. Sahin Akter Sarker, an Associate Professor and Convener, Mr.  A.K.M. Kamrul Haque, Senior Assistant Professor, and Mr. Mahir Abrar, Lecturer, of the Department of Marketing in the Faculty of Business Administration, organized this event. Somoy TV and TV24 covered the event and conducted some interviews of the participants and visitors at the stalls. The event created an innovative opportunity for students to implement their ideas and actualize them as the future business leaders of tomorrow, making the program a great success.
