Seminar on “Navigating Higher Education Opportunities at Indiana Tech University”

On Monday, 12th February 2024, the IEEE AIUB Student Branch successfully organized a seminar on “Navigating Higher Education Opportunities at Indiana Tech”. The prime aim of this session was to provide valuable information about pursuing higher education at Indiana Tech, USA with the conjunction of Education USA so the audience can have an idea about the academic programs, admission process and the opportunities provided by the university.

The esteemed speaker of the session Sharmila Chowdhury, Director of International Admissions, Indiana Tech, USA, commenced the event where she began by sharing her journey from Bangladesh to Indiana Tech, offering insights into her personal background. She emphasized the significance of thorough research before embarking on a study path, while also shedding light on the diverse opportunities available to students. Providing a glimpse into Indiana Tech's dynamic environment, she discussed its range of activities, degree programs, and vibrant student community. Ms. Sharmila highlighted the importance of financial management, in addition to highlighting the campus amenities and support services offered by Indiana Tech. She delved into the institution's focus on career-oriented education and shared inspiring success stories, offering practical tips on resume building and navigating work permits. She thoroughly outlined details regarding the application process, required documents, and the overall cost of pursuing a graduate degree. Then she encouraged prospective applicants to explore the campus virtually. The speaker shared testimonials from international students and drew insightful comparisons between the education systems of the USA and Bangladesh, drawing from her own experiences. As the session neared its end, the speaker thanked the attendees and passed the stage to Sheak Md. Shabuddin. Advisor, Education USA. He offered a clear and concise summary of Education USA, highlighting its crucial role in assisting students with navigating the intricacies of American study programs and educational systems. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing opportunities over rankings, highlighting the practical benefits of seeking guidance from Education USA. Additionally, Mr. Sheak informed attendees about upcoming events and information available on the Education USA website. The session concluded with him expressing his appreciation to the audience for their active participation.

An interactive Question-Answer session took place after the session where the speakers enthusiastically responded to all the queries of the fellow participants. Following the Q/A session, Dr. Shameem Ahmad, Counselor, IEEE AIUB Student Branch; Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, took the floor to share his insights as the concluding remarks of the session where he highlighted the speaker's credentials and discussed potential study opportunities in the USA.

 

The seminar effectively delivered insights into pursuing higher education at Indiana Tech University. Through its promotion of high-quality education and facilitation of access to opportunities, the seminar effectively aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education).

 

The session started at 12:00 PM and ended at 1:30 PM. A total of 50+ participants attended the seminar.
