On 11th June 2014, “Workshop on Circuit Simulation and PCB Design Using Proteus” was organized by IEEE AIUB Student Branch in collaboration with Women In Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, IEEE Bangladesh Section. The workshop aimed to educate mainly sophomore as well as interested students about the use of the software Proteus in PCB design and simulation.
Before commencing the workshop, some information was shared about the activities of WIE such as to provide the attendees with a better understanding of WIE’s objectives and purpose and to encourage female students. Then in the main part of the event, two instructors from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) who were members of the “BUET Lunabotics Team 2013” in NASA’s 4th annual Lunabotics Mining Competition, Mr. M A Awal and Mr. Parvez Ahmed began the workshop by discussing properties of PCB circuits and some basic aspects of the circuit to be simulated. The sample circuit was them simulated step by step using Proteus so that students could simultaneously implement the circuit on their own. A sample PCB circuit was also displayed for students to physically handle and examine. This helped them gain practical knowledge outside of their regular coursework.
The workshop ended with a vote of thanks to the instructors who were presented with certificates and small tokens of appreciation for their time and effort by Mr. Farhadur Arifin, Counselor, IEEE AIUB SB. All attendees were also presented with certificates in acknowledgement of their enthusiastic participation from especially female students as well as students from other universities in the interactive and educative event.
