IEEE AIUB Student Branch celebrated IEEE DAY 2014 on the 1st of October through daylong festivities with the official theme of “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow”. The much awaited and exciting event started with welcome speeches from Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Director of OSA, AIUB , Mr. Ziarat H. Khan, Deputy Director of OSA, AIUB, Mr. Rinku Basak, Assistant Professor & Head of Post Grad,Department of EEE ,AIUB  and Mr. Farhadur Arifin, Assisstant Professor & the Counselor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch and officially began with a cake cutting session in presence of faculty members, guests and participating student members. In the starting session, Dr. Farseem Mannan Mohammedy, Associate Professor, BUET conducted a seminar on the Nanotechnology in a highly interactive session where he enticed the interest of students and inspired them in this promising field. Thesis paper presentations followed by Ms. Nadia Anam, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Mr. Tawsif Ibne Alam, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Mr. Sayed Muhammad Baker, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. There were also technical talks from Mr. Nafiz Ahmed Chishty, Asssisstant Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Special Assistant, Department of EEE, and Dr. M Tanseer Ali, Assisstant Professor, Faculty of Engineering on a wide range of interesting and enlightening topics. A video presentation on IEEE AIUB Student Branch summed up the achievements and activities of the branch throughout the year. The daylong event also consisted of quiz contest and gaming contest to test the students’ basic engineering knowledge as well as their analytical abilities which they enjoyed with great enthusiasm.  Winners of the contests were awarded and all attendees were presented with certificates in appreciation of their active participation. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Head of Undergraduate Program, Department of EEE gave a closing speech and thanked the organizing body for their efforts as well as the participants for their continued support. Faculty members and guest speakers were presented with small tokens of appreciation in acknowledgement of their contribution. Finally, Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Assisstant Professor & Mentor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch and Mr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Assisstant Professor & Special Assisstant (OSA) openly interacted with the students, motivated them and thanked them for making the event one to be remembered.
