Mr. Bhuiyan joined Novartis in 2010. His key responsibilities include Financial Reporting, Product Margin Reporting, Financial Accounting, Corporate treasury activities, Corporate tax management activities, Budgetary control etc. Before joining Novartis, he held the position of Manager – Finance and Accounts of Marico Bangladesh Limited for 2 years. He also worked as a Management Accountant at Unilever Bangladesh. Mr. Bhuiyan is an FCA and completed both MBA and BBA in Accounting & Information Systems from University of Dhaka.
During the session, Mr. Ashiqur Rahman Bhuiyan shared his experience about project evaluation process of large multinational companies with the students. He discussed in details about the method of preparing project proposal, challenges faced by financial managers to determine cash flows for long term investment choices and practical risk factors associated with different long term projects. He also explained how theoretical knowledge of ‘Capital Budgeting’ course is relevant in day to day investment decision making of both personal and corporate life. The session was very interactive and students also asked many practical questions all of which were answered by the honorable guest.
The session was arranged by Md. Kamrul Bari, Assistant Professor of Department of Finance, Faculty of business Administration. Mr. Evans Emon Roy, an alumnus of AIUB and Manager Administration & ComOps HSE Coordinator of Sandoz Division Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited, was also present on this occasion. A gift pack was handed over to the guest speaker at the end of the session.
