The Department of English successfully organized an engaging and informative career talk titled “From Résumé to Recruitment: A Career Talk with the Experts”, featuring two distinguished HR professionals from renowned organizations. Held on Sunday, 16 November 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall, Annex–7, at 4:15 PM, the event drew enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members. The session was initiated and coordinated by Ms. Shahrina Afrin Siddique, Lecturer in the Department of English, for the future benefit of the students across faculties.
The session welcomed Mr. Ahadur Rahman, DGM, Group HR & Head of ODE at AkijBashir Group, and Mr. Asif Hasan Rehan, Senior HR Manager at PEPCO Global Sourcing, as keynote speakers. Both experts offered practical guidance on résumé development, recruitment procedures, and current industry expectations. The event was further honored by the presence of Mr. M. Hamidul Haque, Head of the Department of English, whose support and thoughtful remarks added significance to the occasion.
Mr. Ahadur Rahman provided a clear and insightful breakdown of what employers truly look for in potential candidates, helping students better understand the evolving job market. He emphasized the importance of building HR networks through LinkedIn, maintaining an updated CV, and paying close attention to content quality and academic performance. Complementing this, Mr. Rehan highlighted the importance of cultivating a growth-oriented mindset and addressed common misconceptions about recruitment from an HR perspective. He reiterated the value of consistent hard work, patience, and adaptability in professional environments. Both speakers enriched their discussions with personal stories from their own career journeys, inspiring attendees through real-life examples of professional development.
An interactive Q&A session allowed students to engage directly with the speakers, seeking personalized advice on their career paths. A post-event discussion further enhanced the learning experience, giving participants the opportunity to reflect on and internalize the key insights shared.
The Department extends its heartfelt appreciation to the guest speakers, faculty members, and all participating students for contributing to a highly impactful and memorable session—one that will undoubtedly support students in their ongoing professional preparation.
