A webinar titled “Online Teaching Pedagogy” was organized by the Faculty of Engineering, AIUB on July 08, 2021, Thursday. The webinar was held from 7:30 PM- 9:40 PM on Microsoft Teams platform. The speaker of the webinar was Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, P.Eng, Associate Professor and Head (PG), Dept. of EEE, FE, AIUB. The members of the Faculty of Engineering (Dept. of EEE/CoE/IPE) were the target audience of this webinar. Mr. Tawsif Ibne Alam (Assistant Professor and Special Assistant, Department of EEE, AIUB) acted as the moderator for this session.

Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain (Professor and Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) inaugurated the webinar by defining pedagogy as the method or practice of teaching.  He thanked the Faculty of Engineering members for their efforts in assimilating with the online teaching process and encouraged them to strive for continuous improvement. Following that, speaker of the webinar Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin started his session by discussing strategies to prevent students from cheating, copying, and adopting any kind of unfair means. Additionally, he shared methods to make online lectures more interactive and for keeping students more involved during classes. He recommended using different question patterns to reduce the probability of plagiarism. Some useful policies that may help teachers to provide effective teaching and facilitate fair grade distribution were highlighted, and it was recommended that a specific guideline for assignments is provided to students beforehand to generate answer scripts that cannot be replicated easily.

The session ended with an interactive question answer session between the Faculty of Engineering members in the audience and the organizers. Multiple teachers shared their experiences in online teaching and recommended policies for question design, plagiarism control and time management for MCQ, viva and other assessment. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman (Professor and Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) provided the closing remarks by thanking Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin for the informative session, encouraging the faculty members to be empathetic without being overly complaisant, and stressing upon the importance of being fair, punctual and respectful in communicating with students. Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan (Professor and Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), Mr. Nafiz Ahmed Chisty (Associate Professor and Head In-Charge, Dept. of EEE, AIUB), Mr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of CoE, AIUB), Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain (Senior Assistant Professor and Special Assistant of OSA, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) were also present at the event.
