The Office of Placement & Alumni (OPA), AIUB, organized a career session titled “EEE Careers: Beyond the Syllabus” on 30 December 2025 at the Multipurpose Hall, D Building for internship-enrolled EEE students, Fall 2025–2026, to provide insights on industry expectations, career opportunities, and essential professional skills.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Md. Zahidul Islam, Manager, EME Department, RANCON Engineering & Consultants Ltd., and a proud alumnus of AIUB, who completed both his BSc and MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the university. Drawing from his extensive experience in electrical design and engineering consultancy, he shared practical insights and guidance relevant to EEE students preparing to enter the workforce.
During the session, the speaker emphasized the importance of building strong technical foundations and gaining real-world exposure alongside academic learning. He also provided guidance on career planning, skill development, and professional readiness for fresh EEE graduates.
Key points shared by the speaker included:
- The importance of strong electrical design fundamentals, including proper cable selection, load calculation, and adherence to safety standards.
- Practical insights from real-life electrical design and site-based project experience in the engineering and construction sector.
- Essential electrical skills that fresh EEE graduates must develop to perform effectively in professional roles.
- Guidance on job interview preparation, highlighting common mistakes made by fresh engineers and strategies to improve performance.
- Recommendations on pursuing industry-relevant electrical courses and certifications to enhance employability.
- Emphasis on learning AutoCAD for electrical drawings and design documentation.
- Introduction to other widely used electrical and design-related software, such as ETAP, Dialux, Revit MEP, along with MS Excel for engineering calculations and documentation.
- Advice on building a strong career profile through hands-on projects, internships, and continuous skill development aligned with industry requirements.
The interactive session allowed students to actively engage with the speaker through questions and discussions, making the program highly informative and impactful. Overall, the session provided EEE students with valuable exposure to industry-driven practices and practical career guidance.
The session was further honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of AIUB, and Professor Dr. Md Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, whose attendance added prestige and encouragement to the event. In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Saiful Islam shared insights on electrical design principles, compliance with building codes, and professional engineering standards, motivating students to integrate academic knowledge with practical and regulatory requirements in their future careers.
