A five-day workshop on Developing Curriculum and Conducting Research in Communication for Development (C4D) among higher educational institutions of Bangladesh was held at BRAC Center for Development Management at Savar in Dhaka from 24 to 28 June 2018 . United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and Ohio University USA jointly organized the workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Waithira Gikonyo, Senior Learning Advisor, UNICEF, David H Mould, Professor Emeritus, Ohio University , Andrew Carlson, Associate Professor, Metropolitan State University, Suruchi Sood, Associate Professor ,Drexel University ,USA and Neha Kapil, Section Chief, C4D of UNICEF, Bangladesh. Four Faculty members represented AIUB team among 9 private and Public Universities. Faculty members from AIUB are Ms.Farheen Hassan,Associate Professor, Director – BBA Program, Head – Department of Management and HRM, & Additional Director, IQAC, Anisa Sultana, Senior Assistant Professor ,Department of Management & HRM, Farhana Rafiq, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Mohammed Foysal Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer department of Media and Mass Communication. AIUB team had to go through rigorous selection process on the basis of EOI.
This workshop was the second phase of C4D curriculum development Project. The first phase was three months long E-Learning Course on Communication for Development (C4D) held from March to May this year. All of the members of AIUB team Passed with distinction in E-learning Assessment categorized into ‘Pass’ , ‘Pass with Merit’ and ‘Pass with distinction’ and qualified to attend the workshop. 30 Academicians from 9 Universities were invited to attend the workshop to develop 10 multi-disciplinary modules. In the mid –September a team from Ohio University, Drexel University and Metropolitan State University along with UNICEF and UGC will visit AIUB to assess the progress of the Roll out of the modules in the class rooms. Their visit will be followed by the meeting with Vice Chancellor, Deans and Directors and for students of AIUB, a seminar will be conducted by the team .AIUB team along with other 8 universities of Bangladesh will be developing 10 C4D modules that will be taught in Private and Public Universities from Fall 2018-19.
