AIUB signed a MOU with Katalyst to introduce a course on Rural Marketing

American International University Bangladesh- AIUB, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 9th June 2009 with Katalyst to introduce a course on Rural Marketing into the curriculum of undergraduate (BBA) and Post graduate (MBA) Business Administration programmes. This MOU was jointly signed by AIUB, Katalyst and Eastern University of Bangladesh. This collaboration is first of its kind in Bangladesh which will enable the students to gain practical insight of the dynamics of rural markets, consumers and businesses in Bangladesh. Under the MOU, Katalyst AIUB and the Eastern University have committed to support the partnership by developing relevant modules, building capacity of faculty and facilitating linkages with various stakeholders. This is an excellent initiative to institutionalize the rich experience and learning of rural markets to ensure that a growing number of students are shaped to become the future professionals in this area. The course is expected to be offered from Spring 2010. Mr. James Blewett, General Manager of Katalyst, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor, AIUB and Professor Dr. Rahim B. Talukdar, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Prof. Tafazzal Hossain, Vice President of Student Affairs, AIUB, and other senior officials of Katalyst and Eastern University were also present in the signing ceremony. The event was facilitated and coordinated by Future Leaders, a leading consulting, training and research organization. American International University Bangladesh- AIUB currently has a total of more than 8000 students and majority of them belong to the Business School. Dr. Anwar Hossain, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB believes that launching of this Rural Marketing course will be a new milestone in the effort of AIUB for continuous improvement of its education program.
