A team from the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) participated in the 2nd Transnational Project Meeting of the Erasmus SOHO. The Smart, Optimized, High-quality, and On-demand (SOHO) Tourism Innovative Education for Sustainable and Green Development (2023-2026) project aims to establish and develop a network of Knowledge & Competence Centers (KCC) of higher education excellence in three South-East Asian countries: Vietnam, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. This initiative contributes to regional development, innovation, and smart specialization strategies of the involved regions while fostering transnational and international cooperation strategies between them. Alongside the development of KCCs, the project partners will develop courses focused on Smart Transportation, Sustainable Accommodation, and Integration of Renewable Energy Sources, aiming to provide new career opportunities for students and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.
Representing AIUB at the 2nd transnational meeting are Dr. Carmen Z Lamagna, Member of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Manzur H Khan, Proctor; Associate Professor Dr. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Director, Faculty of Engineering; and Associate Professor Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Head of Computer Engineering. The meeting was held at the University of Technology and Education – the University of Da Nang, Vietnam, from July 18 to 19, 2024.
Approximately 36 participants from various institutions took part in the meeting, including representatives from the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, Romania; Universite Lyon Lumiere 2, France; Politecnico di Milano, Italy; Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia; Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia; American International University-Bangladesh; Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh; The University of Danang, Vietnam; and the University of Technology and Education – the University of Da Nang, Vietnam.
This gathering underscored the collaborative spirit and commitment to sustainable and innovative education within the participating countries, marking a significant step towards achieving the project's objectives.
