The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) participated in the “National Workshop on iCare Innovations Fund”, organized by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC). AIUB served as a local partner university for the project titled “Social Innovation Through Technology Nudging: Developing a Behavioral Toolkit for Diffusing Solar Irrigation.” The project was a collaborative effort involving Durham University (UK) as the lead institution along with Curtin University (Australia), AIUB, the University of Rajshahi, and Khulna University.
The iCARE Innovations Fund is part of the Climate Adaptation and Resilience for South Asia (CARE) Project, supported by the World Bank and implemented by ADPC. This fund aims to promote climate resilience and adaptation through transformative, affordable, and accessible climate solutions. The initiative focuses on innovative behavioral approaches to encourage the adoption of climate-smart technologies, particularly among farmers.
At the workshop, Dr. Faria Sultana, Head of the Department of Economics at AIUB, represented the global research consortium. She presented the project’s background, methodology, progress, key findings, and its impacts on promoting sustainable agriculture. In this workshop, esteemed faculty members from AIUB and Khulna university, who were part of the research consortium also participated along with the representatives from the Department of Agricultural Extension and farmer community in Gazipur.
The workshop was graced by distinguished participants, including Mr. Netai Chandra Dey Sarker (Director, MIM, DDM), Mr. Sagar Acharya (iCARE Manager, ADPC), Mr. Prasanth Chandran (Director, BIMSTEC Secretariat), and Mr. Aslam Perwaiz (Deputy Executive Director, ADPC), along with other innovators and experts. Together, they created a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas and fostering inspiration for climate innovation.
