AIUB is undergoing International Accreditation Of its MBA/EMBA Program

AIUB IS UNDERGOING INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION OF ITS MBA/EMBA PROGRAM

After about 2 years of preparations, the American International University-Bangladesh is now ready for the evaluation visit of the PAASCU ( Philippine Association of Accrediting Schools, Colleges and Universities) Team. The university has established its own internal cell called Quality Assurance Center (AQAC) to spearhead in the conduct of the institution self-survey as a pre-requisite for accreditation. After the application of the university was approved by the PAASCU Board, the self-survey of the university in 8 areas such as: Goals and Objectives, Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, Students, Library, Research, Administration, and Other Resources were thoroughly analyzed using the PAASCU survey instruments and evaluation standards. Correspondingly, a steering committee and eight subcommittees were created with the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna on the helm and Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration as overall coordinator and Mr. Maksud Sarker as Director of AQAC. To better understand and appreciate the process, all the subcommittee members underwent series of orientations and trainings to familiarize themselves with the process, the instruments and the application of the standards or criteria. The output of the university self-survey, after each subcommittee has carefully analyzed the 8 areas and ably defended the results, was submitted to PAASCU for initial evaluation. The documents were found substantive and a team was constituted by PAASCU to visit the university for actual evaluation on 10-12 November 2009. The Team composed of  Ms. Concepcion Pijano, PAASCU Executive Director and President of the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) an international organization based in Shanghai, Dr. Linda Flor Gil is the Team Chair and Dr. Cecile Gutierrez recognized registered accreditors as members have arrived yesterday and are now in the process of evaluating the university. To attest to the evaluation process are 2 UGC officials,  the Secretary of University Grants Commission (UGC), Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Khaled and Director Jesmin Pervin. The visit of the PAASCU Team is a breakthrough in the university system of Bangladesh because this will serve as a model in establishing the true measure of quality and excellence. The great deal of efforts and substantial resources which the university management headed by its Chairman, Dr. Anwarul Abedin and the other honorable founders have invested to make this happen cannot be compared with the enormous benefits and prestige the university will acquire when PAASCU finally grant the level of accreditation to its MBA/EMBA program. Subsequently, the BBA program of the university will likewise undergo the acid test of quality and excellence next academic year while the MBA/EMBA program will continue to the next level of accreditation.
