On 20 January 2026, American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) hosted around 30 faculty members from public and private universities across Bangladesh under the Professional Development Training for University Faculty of the Higher Education Acceleration & Transformation (HEAT). The program was organized by the Training Management Office (TMO), Bangladesh Open University (BOU), under the joint initiative of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and The World Bank.
The visit was organized and hosted by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of AIUB, reflecting the university’s continued commitment to quality enhancement, capacity building, and collaborative learning in higher education. The program aims to provide participants with practical exposure to institutional quality assurance practices and to facilitate meaningful professional exchange among universities.
The visit commenced with an overview of AIUB-IQAC operations and chronology of activities, followed by an interactive presentation and discussion session led by Prof. Dr. Farheen Hassan, Ph.D., SFHEA, Director of AIUB-IQAC. The session was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member, Board of Trustees and Former Vice Chancellor - AIUB, whose engagement added depth and value to the discussions. The session highlighted key quality assurance practices, including Outcome-Based Education (OBE), digitalization of academic and administrative processes, internationalization initiatives, and professional development aligned with national and international standards. Participants actively engaged in dialogue, sharing experiences and insights related to teaching–learning processes, academic governance, and institutional quality enhancement.
As part of the visit, participants also took part in a guided campus tour, which offered valuable practical exposure to AIUB’s modern infrastructure, academic facilities, and quality assurance mechanisms implemented at the institutional and departmental levels. The visit concluded with a closing session, marking a productive and enriching exchange of ideas.
AIUB sincerely extends its appreciation to the Training Management Office (TMO), Bangladesh Open University, the HEAT Project, and all participating faculty members for their active engagement and collaboration. Such initiatives play a vital role in bridging theory with real-world academic practices and strengthening our shared commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence in higher education. The successful execution of the program was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the AIUB-IQAC team, whose coordination ensured a smooth, engaging, and well-structured experience for the visiting participants.
