The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and the TESOL Society of Bangladesh recently collaborated to host a "Dissemination Seminar and Evidence Cafe" focusing on "English and Digital/Mobile Technologies for the EDI Generation in Higher Education in Bangladesh." The event took place on July 23, 2025, at AIUB's Media Studio.
This seminar was a key part of the "Let's Talk Research Series," an initiative by AIUB's Department of English aimed at fostering a stronger academic community by connecting researchers, academicians, and English language experts to share knowledge.
The seminar presented findings from a three-year project titled "English for the EDI generation: Predicting and tracking the role of English and digital/mobile technologies in Higher Education across East and South Asia." This extensive project was led by The Open University, UK, in partnership with Dhaka University in Bangladesh and three other universities in China, India, and Indonesia.
Dr. Mian Md. Naushaad Kabir, Associate Professor at the Institute of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka, and Vice President of the TESOL Society of Bangladesh, shared insightful findings from the project in his capacity as the country lead for Bangladesh.
The seminar's hybrid format allowed a diverse group of experts, practitioners, and researchers from around the world to participate. The first segment of the event focused on disseminating the project's findings. The second part, the "Evidence Café," provided a dynamic platform for attendees to pose questions, voice concerns, and offer suggestions and feedback. AIUB's Media Studio was abuzz with scholarly discussions, both from those physically present and those joining online.
