ACES ORGANIZED A VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON “VOICE OF WOMEN WITH # I AM REMARKABLE”

AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) organized a virtual workshop titled “Voice of Women with #I Am Remarkable” on Saturday (October 17, 2020). The program started at 3:30 pm with the participation of about 30 students using the online platform Google Meet. 

Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) inaugurated the workshop by acknowledging the revolutionary contribution of woman in the society. He also highlighted the resent scenario where women are conquering all the challenges with great precision. He emphasized on the education of women and appreciated the involvement of women in technological development in the 21st Century. He concluded his speech by encouraging and appreciating the students who has joined the workshop and he wished all the success to the workshop. Afterwards, the instructor Ms. Farzana Afrin Tisha (Director, Women in Big Data Bangladesh, #IAmRemarkable Facilitator Bangladesh, AWS Community Leader Bangladesh, Head of Marketing & Business Development Manager (Offshore), Brain Station 23 Ltd) was invited to begin the workshop. She started her speech by explaining the intrinsic meaning #IAmRemarkable and emphasized on Self-promotion which is the most important skill for women to be remarkable in their careers and provide them with tools to practice this skill and challenge the social perception around self-promotion. She also prioritized on how being a women she should help other women empower, grow and inspire to be confident. She gave some tasks to the participants for the purpose of the workshop and they interacted with their own experiences. She also discussed that the percentage of women illiteracy is very high in our country because of some predated mentality and culture. Last of all she encouraged everyone to express their achievements with confidence and took a survey. She concluded her speech by thanking everyone for their patience and interaction. A short question answer session was held where the participants asked different questions regarding self-promotion. Afterwards, Ms. Sumaiya Umme Hani (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Motivator, ACES) was invited to give her speech. She started off her speech by thanking the speaker for sharing her thoughts, experiences as well as encouraging the younger generation especially the female students. She was hopeful that the workshop will have a very good impact on everyone's life.

Finally, the workshop was concluded with a group snapshot in the presence of Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), Ms. Sumaiya Umme Hani (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB; Motivator, ACES), instructor of this workshop Ms. Farzana Afrin Tisha and the participants along with the organizing volunteers of AIUB Community of Engineering Students.
