Accounting & Finance Poster and QUIZ Competition – 2014

Tuesday 6 January 2015 The Department of Accounting and the Department of Finance have jointly organized a poster competition and talent hunt competition named SEARCHLIGHT on 4th December 2014 with an objective of Identifying, recognizing & nurturing Accounting & Finance talents of the Faculty of Business Administration. The program started with the inauguration of the poster competition in campus 1 study area.  The Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, inaugurated the event. Dr. Nisar Ahmed Head, Department of Finance & Director, MBA Program, Faculty of Business Administration was also present to grace the event. Prof. Md. Maksudur Rahman Sarker, Director AQAC, and Mr. Md. Abdul Kader Nazmul, Sr. Assistant Professor and Director of BBA Program, have also visited the exhibition. Out of 120 posters 25 posters were selected and exhibited. Based on Concept, design and clarity of the message the champion, first runner up, second runner up, best design and best concept, were selected.   The second phase of the day continued in the auditorium of campus 1 where the final round of SEARCHLIGHT took place. SEARCHLIGHT 2014 was launched on November 27, 2014 with a total 65 groups from which only 16 groups qualified to the second round. After a hard-fought battle, only 4 groups made it to the Grand Finale. The Grand Finale was Sub-divided in Three rounds. The first round was a Quiz contest where participants were evaluated based on their overall knowledge about Real world and theoretical areas of Accounting & Finance disciplines. In the second round, the finalists had to participate in a Public Speaking Contest, after which only TWO best groups moved to the last round. In the last round, these TWO groups challenged each other by asking questions of their choice within the Accounting & Finance area. SEARCHLIGHT 2014 Champion:          Rahman Tansu Monija Rahman Mushfiqur Runner – up:      Hoque Md. Nazmul Hossain Md. Monowar The presentation ceremony took place in the auditorium. The Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva and Dr. Ehsan Uddin Ahmed Associate Professor and Associate Dean, Faculty of Business Administration were present to hand over the certificates, crest and gifts to the winners and participants. Under the efficient guidance of Department Head of Accounting, Mohammad Zakaria Masud, FCMA all the faculty member of accounting and finance worked with a lot of enthusiasm to make both the events successful. The faculty members responsible for the Poster Completion were: Ms. Farah Rezwan, Ms.  Bohi Shajahan, Ms. Ishrat Khan, Ms. Nafeesa Tabassum and Mr. Ziaur Rahman. The faculty members responsible for SEARCHLIGHT were: Mr. Md. Faridul Alam, Mr. Kamrul Bari, Mr. Md. Joynal Abedin, Mr. Niaz Ahmed. The day ended successfully with the enthusiastic participation of all the students and generous cooperation of the AIUB management.
