The Department of Management and HR organized a study tour on 3rd of December, 2016 to a labor intensive industry “Nippon Garment Industries Ltd.”, Tongi, Gazipure. The tour was prepared for the students of Principles of Management and arranged by the course teacher Mrs. Samia Shabnaz, Assistant Professor of Management Dept. with a view to get the students familiar with the management practices of the industry which will help them to relate the concepts they had studied in their academic course. With the course teacher accompanied 60 students in the tour.

The students were divided into groups in order to make the tour time-convenient. The member of the management team guided and explained the students the operation of the organization. Students also got the opportunity to interview women garments worker about the HR issues of the organization. They also got a real life experience on the concern for health and safety affair. In the garments industry labor unrest, wages and salary, compliance related problems are now burning issues, so students observed the measures taken by the organization to deal with the current challenges of this sector.  At the end of the session a gift pack was handed over to the additional Managing Director of Nippon Garment Industries Ltd.

Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean Faculty of Business Administration, Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Director, OSA and Mrs. Farheen Hassan, Head of the Department, Management and HRM, provided their continuous support for the arrangement of the tour.
