An informative seminar on ‘3+1 Program (Hons) for Tourism and Hospitality Major Students in University College Birmingham, UK’ was held at the Auditorium of Campus 1 of AIUB on February 14, 2015. The seminar was organized by the Tourism and Hospitality Management Department. The main purpose of this seminar was to inform the students about the opportunities they have in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry along with study options in the UK. The key speaker of the seminar was Professor Melvyn Pryer (Former Dean of School of Tourism and Hospitality and Director of the International Student Centre, University College Birmingham, UK). The seminar was commenced by Professor Dr. Charles C. Villanueva (Pro Vice Chancellor &Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB) with a few words of inspiration to encourage the students for higher studies in hospitality service industry. University College Birmingham (UCB) is one of the most renowned universities in the UK and one of the world’s top 20 universities for Tourism and Hospitality education. The proposed study program is a 3+1 where students will be completing 3 years of their study at AIUB and complete the final year at UCB with 6 months full time paid work placement. At the moment, students have to choose between ‘BA(Hons.) Hospitality & Tourism Management’ and ‘BA(Hons.) International Hospitality & Tourism Management’ for their final year’s area of focus. The discussion was through and lively as the students were very interested to know about this within reach opportunity. The seminar was conducted by Mr.Redwan Salam(Assistant Professor, Department of Marketing) and Mr. GolamMostofa(Assistant Professor, Department of Marketing). Mr. Md. Mostafa Jaman(Assistant Professor, Department of Management), Ms. Musrat Mou(Assistant Professor, Department of Management), Ms. Nazia Farhana (Lecturer, Department of Marketing) and Ms. Ishrat Khan(Lecturer, Department of Finance) also attended the seminar.
