Abstract
Introduction This study uses the Weibull Distribution to conduct a thorough evaluation of Rajshahi, Bangladesh's wind energy potential. We hope to forecast and analyze the feasibility of wind power generation in the area by utilizing this statistical method. Focusing on the distinct geographical features and environmental aspects of Rajshahi, our study aims to offer important insights into the viability and optimization of using wind energy as a sustainable resource in Bangladesh's energy landscape. Methodology If the velocity (Ω_i) is expressed as a frequency (ϵi) distribution, we denote the average as Ωm, standard deviation as λΩ, probability function as f(Ω), cumulative function as F(Ω), shape factor as α, scale factor as χ, power available as βA, power output per unit time as βΩ, wind power density as σD, modal wind velocity as Ωmode, and velocity giving the highest power as Ωmax. Results Table 1 shows the Weibull projections for wind speed, corresponding power density, shape parameter (x), and scale parameter (α) at two different heights (50 and 70 meters) in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, over various months. The columns show the month, speed range, shape parameter range, scale parameter range, and power density range, and each row represents a particular height. For example, from November to March, at a height of 50 meters, the wind speed ranges from 2.25 to 4.0 m/s, while the shape parameter (x) and scale parameter (α) vary from 1.9 to 2.4 and 4.0 to 5.5, respectively. A power density range of 60 to 200 W/m² is the result. Similarly, the wind speed range changes to 2.0 to 3.75 m/s from April to October at the same height, accompanied by corresponding variations in shape and scale parameters, resulting in a power density range of 40 to 150 W/m². Stakeholders in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, can make well-informed decisions about the viability and optimization of wind power generation by examining these data points. Conclusion To sum up, the application of the Weibull Distribution method in our research has provided insightful information about Rajshahi, Bangladesh's potential for wind energy. We have offered a comprehensive understanding of the viability and variability of wind power generation in the area through meticulous analysis and forecasting. These results add to the conversation about renewable energy and give stakeholders and policymakers in Bangladesh's sustainable energy development useful information. Using Weibull Distribution analysis going forward can help with strategic planning and wind energy project implementation, promoting a more resilient and environmentally friendly energy future for Rajshahi and beyond.
