Abstract

Objective: The primary objective of this study is to determine the role of ICT tools in enhancing classroom engagement and student performance. This research aims to identify the various types of ICT tools which is commonly utilized in educational settings. Such as smartboards, tablets, multimedia projector, learning management system and educational software. It seeks to access how these tools impact student engagement. Furthermore, the study will evaluate the influence of ICT integration on students' academic performance by comparing outcomes between ICT supported and traditional learning environments. In addition, the research will explore both teachers and students' usability ofICT tools in the learning process. Finally, the study aims to identify the major barriers to effective ICT implementations in classroom and student performance. Methodology This study will follow a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods to gain a comprehensive understanding of the role ofICT tools in classroom engagement and student performance. The research will be conducted in selected educational institutions. The main focus is secondary schools and undergraduate colleges where ICT tools are actively used. Quantitative data will be collected through structured surveys administered to students and teachers. The student survey will focus on the frequency and type of ICT tool usage, perceived engagement and academic performance while the teacher survey will cover instructional practices, perceived student response and challenges in using ICT. Qualitative data will be gathered through semi-structured interviews or focus group discussion with selected teachers and students to explore their experiences, perceptions and suggestions regarding ICT use in classrooms. Ethical considerations such as informed consent, participant anonymity and data confidentially will be strictly maintained throughout the research process. Result The study revealed that the majority of students (around 78%) reported increased interest and motivation when ICT tools such as multimedia presentations, interactive quizzes, and smartboards were used in the classroom. Teachers also indicated that ICT tools helped make lessons more dynamic and encouraged student participation. Statistical analysis showed a positive correlation between frequent use of ICT tools and improved academic performance, particularly in science and language subjects. Qualitative findings from interviews highlighted that students felt more confident and engaged when lessons were delivered using ICT tools. Teachers noted that while ICT enhanced lesson delivery and student interaction, limitations such as inadequate training, inconsistent internet access, and lack of technical support remained significant challenge Conclusion The study highlights that ICT tools play a significant role in enhancing classroom engagement and improving student performance. When effectively integrated, ICT not only fosters interactive learning environments but also motivates students and supports better academic outcomes.
