Abstract
"Background: Sleep is very important for our brain to work properly, especially when it comes to learning and staying focused. Many studies have shown that not getting enough sleep or having an irregular sleep schedule can make it harder to concentrate, solve problems, and do well in academics. Theories like Sleep Deprivation and Circadian Rhythm explain how changes in sleep patterns can cause tiredness and reduce brain efficiency. Still, a lot of students don’t get proper sleep because of study pressure, use of digital devices, or social activities. This research focuses on understanding how students’ sleep patterns affect their ability to concentrate and learn. Objectives: The main goal of this research is to find out how sleep habits affect students’ focus and learning skills. More specifically, we want to: • See how the amount and quality of sleep affect attention levels. • Understand how irregular sleep affects memory and learning. • Give suggestions to improve sleep routines for better academic results. Data Sources: Primary Data: Surveys and sleep tracking logs from students, along with self-reported focus levels and academic performance. Secondary Data: Scientific studies, journal articles, and reports on sleep and cognitive function. Variables Under Study: Qualitative Variables (Non-numerical) • Sleep quality (poor, fair, good, excellent) • Sleep consistency (regular, irregular) • Feeling of alertness (alert, tired, drowsy) • Study habits (group study, solo study) Quantitative Variables (Numerical) Discrete Variables (Countable whole numbers) Number of sleep interruptions (waking up during the night) Number of study hours per day Number of subjects failed/passed Continuous Variables (Measurable, can take decimal values) o Hours of sleep per night o Test scores / academic performance (in %) o Memory test results (in seconds, accuracy %) o Focus level measured by a scale (1–10 rating scale) "
