Abstract
The food security model has historically occupied national agricultural production would drive national welfare gains in Bangladesh. Systemic environmental and economic shocks have demonstrated the difference between household food security experiences and national harvest statistics. The main objective of this research is to analyze and demonstrate of crop yield (tons/hectare) from the national food security index using the "decoupling" of domestic. We have taken nine selected periods (1995-2023) from secondary data in Excel against three types of systemic shocks. These are the 1998 availability shock, the 2020 access shock, and the 2022 affordability shock. The Food Security Index fell, this decoupling is visible from 1995 to 2000, while on food access Crop Yield rose, a change caused by the impact of the 1998 flood. The highest peak of the Food Security Index is correlated with the lowest Crop Yield. This shows how large social protection programs helped mitigate the access shock from the pandemic and makes the Food Security Index independent of local production. In 2022, the situation changed anomalously. A high agricultural output of around 4.1 tons per hectare was linked to the lowest Food Security Index. This suggests a serious breakdown in affordability caused by shocks to global prices as well as strong native inflation. It was difficult to obtain when food was accessible. The evidence ensures that Bangladesh’s food security issue has fundamentally changed. The main factors are no longer just about local availability or production. Therefore, policy and research should focus on a more complex combination of price affordability, which is impacted by shifts in the global market and economic access, including incomes and safety nets.
