Abstract

Bangladesh is an agricultural country. It’s economy is largely dependent on agricultural. About 14.74% of GDP is coming from the agricultural sector. However, there are many problems in this sector that lead to supply chain interruptions. The entire process of creating and delivering a good or service, from obtaining raw materials to delivering it to the customer, is known as a supply chain. As an agricultural economy, Bangladesh’s supply chain system encounters significant obstacles. These challenges include insufficient transportation facilities, high transaction costs, multiple market intermediaries, a general lack of awareness, and several socio-economic problems. The country’s crop agriculture faces annual limitations, primarily due to environmental factors such as floods, droughts, and soil salinity. Furthermore, farmers also contend with restricted market access, financial difficulties, inadequate transportation, and elevated transaction costs, which further exacerbate these challenges. Bangladesh, being an agricultural country, faces several challenges in its agricultural sector that need to be addressed through effective supply chain management. The procurement and management of suppliers ought to be the most important area of attention. Overcoming the present challenges requires a well-structured management system. Moreover, it is essential to create robust policy frameworks and enact laws governing farming operations. These policies must cover all aspects of farming, including production, development, preservation, processing, and marketing, beginning from the early stages of their implementation. The goal of this study is to identify the problems that farmers encounter in Bangladesh, where agriculture plays a significant role in the economy. The primary objectives of this paper are to identify the root causes of these problems and describe the actions that should be taken to resolve them.
