The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the Faculty of Business Administration at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a practical event titled “Taste of Chinese Cuisine” on May 07, 2026.
The event took place in the THM Multipurpose Lab and featured participation from students of the Tourism and Hospitality Management major. Distinguished guests included Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor; Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman; Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean-in-Charge, FBA; Prof. Dr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury, Director BBA Program (In-charge) & Head of the Department of Marketing & THM; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Director MBA Program; Dr. Md. Faruque Hossain, Research Coordinator, FBA; Professor Dr. Kamrul Hasan, Head of the Department of Accounting; Ms. Bohi Shahjahan, Head of the Department of Finance; Mehzabul Hoque Nahid, Head of the Department of MIS; Mr. R. Tareque Moudud, Director, Office of Placement along with several other faculty members from the faculty of Business Administration.
The event was organized by the students of THM major under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury, Chartered Marketer (UK), Director in Charge, BBA Program, & Head of the Department of Marketing & THM. The event was coordinated by Ms. Sharmin Sultana, Assistant Professor, THM. During the event, students were divided into groups, each tasked with showcasing and serving food from a designated cuisine. Their performances demonstrated creativity and skill, as they sold coupons, prepared dishes and provided exemplary table service. The guests tasted the food, observed the students' service, and expressed high satisfaction with the food quality, and service.
The event’s objective aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education and Decent Work and Economic Growth. Through such initiatives, the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management reaffirms AIUB's commitment to academic excellence, student career development, and the cultivation of future professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry.
