On Sunday, November 17, 2024, the AIUB Computer Club hosted an inspiring seminar titled "Mastering the Art of Pitching." This event was part of the series Unlocking the Secrets of Successful Entrepreneurship, presented by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and supported by the BASIS Students' Forum AIUB Chapter. The seminar aimed to help aspiring entrepreneurs develop essential communication, storytelling, and pitching skills by learning directly from industry experts. Among the distinguished attendees was Professor Dr. Saiful Islam (Vice-Chancellor, AIUB), along with Mr. Mashiour Rahman (Senior Associate Professor , Dean-In-Charge , Faculty of Science & Technology), Professor Dr. Dip Nandi (Professor and Associate Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology), Dr. Debajyoti Karmaker (Associate Professor, Head [Undergraduate Program], Faculty of Science & Technology), Dr. Md. Abdullah-Al-Jubair (Senior Assistant Professor, Director, Faculty of Science & Technology), Mr. Abhijit Bhowmik (Associate Professor and Special Assistant to the Office of Student Affairs, AIUB) ,and other faculty members whose presence and insights inspired all attendees.
The seminar began with a warm welcome from the host, Md. Rashed Wasio Hemal (General Member, AIUB Computer Club), who invited Mr. Bhowmik to the stage. He highlighted the importance of mastering the art of pitching to establish and secure support for startups. Following this, the host introduced Ms. Taslima Mazumdar from Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), who discussed the impactful work of Orange Corners Bangladesh and its role in fostering promising startups in the country.
The seminar’s keynote speaker, Mr. Ashraf Hossain Sachin, (Founder of DurjoyDSS Technologies Limited) delivered an engaging session. He passionately spoke about crafting a compelling pitch to secure investments and funding for startup growth. Mr. Hossain outlined the essential components of a successful pitch, including understanding the audience, identifying specific problems, and presenting strategic solutions. He emphasized the value of incorporating real-world examples to make pitches more relatable and impactful. To enhance the experience, he invited participants to share their business ideas, creating a practical, interactive pitching scenario. The active engagement of the audience made the seminar both educational and inspiring.
Later, the honorable Vice-Chancellor of AIUB, Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, shared his hopes that the session would inspire more AIUB students to explore entrepreneurship. As the session concluded, attendees participated in a vibrant Q&A segment, exchanging ideas and seeking guidance.
To close the event, honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Saiful Islam presented a crest to the guest speakers as a token of appreciation. During this moment, other faculty members joined him on stage, The guest speakers also presented a token of appreciation to our honorable Vice-Chancellor and the faculty members.
