As part of the celebration of the 17 years of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Office of Sports at AIUB has organized a week long (November 12-19) indoor sports competition named as Indoor Games Festival 2012. The festival was inaugurated with an amazing opening ceremony at the Banani Club ground on 12th November 2012 at 10:30 am.
Vice president (Academics) of AIUB Professor Dr. Tafazzal Hossain inaugurated the competition. Among others the Registrar of AIUB, Professor M A Quaiyum, Dean of FBA, Prof. Dr. Charles Carillo Villanueva, Dean of engineering Professor Dr. A B M Siddique Hossain, Director (Accounts) Khondaker Sabbir Mohammed Kabir, Director (Placement and Alumni) Mr. R. Tareque Moudud., Director (AQAC) Mr. Md. Maksudur Rahman Sarker, Director (MBA) Dr. Nisar Ahmed and Director (BBA) and Coordinator (Office of Sports) Mr. Abdul Kader Nazmul were present on this occasion. Also Faculty members, officers and students from different departments of AIUB and the representative from the Media Partners were also present at the inauguration event. This event included Chess, Cyber games, Table Tennis, Ludo, Badminton, Carom, Volleyball and Handball competition. Also at 3 PM on the same day there was a Friendly Football Match between the employees of LankaBangla Finance and AIUB Faculty members and officers. AIUB won the match by 2-1.For AIUB, Abdul Kader Nazmul and Rasel both scored 1 goal each and for LankaBangla Finance Gazi Mohammed Arif scored one goal. Employees from the Management of LankaBangla Finance and AIUB were present during the prize giving ceremony after this friendly football match. The media partner for this AIUB Indoor Games Festival 2012 were Gtv, Radio Today and the daily Jugantor.
